How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, because the ease of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind while trying to carry out tasks that could have otherwise required working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular equipment make it the right alternative for performing jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted inside the base of the lift. These batteries have to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This could be done without any specialized equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The equipment has to be positioned near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated near the charger or the control box, in the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, older models will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place which is well ventilated and after that plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can likely take place.
