Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage places orderly and to stock up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is usually utilized. This particular model consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This model is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Within the majority of warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and could maximize available storage space while increasing production.
