Boomlift / Manlift Pomona

Used Boom Lift Pomona - One of the commonest types of industrial equipment and aerial equipment is the boom lift. Commonly known as aerial work platforms, mobile elevating work platforms, cherry pickers, aerial devices and elevating work platforms, it was engineered to complete work at higher locations more efficient and easier. There are many places to find boom lifts at work including warehouses, contractors, various companies and in retail stores. Keeping workers safe as they access conditions in a higher altitude is priceless. There is a wide variety of boom lift models to choose from. Many models are capable of being operated by a single individual. This machine is popular for harvesting fruit in locations such as orchards that historically relied on climbing dangerous ladders. Ladders need to be secured on solid, even ground in order to be safely accessible, making them hard to rely on in a natural orchard setting. Boom lifts make it much easier to reach high tree tops for collecting fruit. Gaining Access Over Obstacles Some boom lift models can move up and over obstacles, making them ideal for working over top of items safely and efficiently. Having the capacity to reach an object even when you are unable to maneuver the equipment directly underneath has a variety of applications including window cleaning, telephone pole and line installation and service, fixing overhead cables and numerous other industries. Articulated boom lifts are comprised of many joints that allow the machine to bend under or over obstacles. To enable operators to access many places, these sections of the boom lift can move independently. Famous for their tight turning radius, articulated booms offer an ideal solution for narrow hallways and storage facilities. Dual-fuel models can work both inside and outside. Diesel versions are best suited outside and electric models are preferred for interior environments. Articulating Boom Lifts Popular for maintenance jobs and construction, articulating boom lifts are a useful piece of material handling equipment. Articulated boom lifts are utilized commonly for working on overhead power lines and wires. Certain models are outfitted with water cannons to be used in firefighting applications. Telescoping sections are available on certain models to extend reach to the maximum. There are articulating boom lifts complete with an additional jib that allows the platform to extend an extra 6 feet in any direction. Since these machines commonly work on steep ground and rough terrain, they resemble “spiders” with their long legs, and often go by that nickname on the job site. Smaller units called interior articulating boom lifts are capable of fitting through doorways, making them valuable in retail, warehousing and storage facilities. Electric boom lifts are common for interior jobs due to their quieter options and lack of unhealthy carbon monoxide exhaust. Telescopic Boom Lifts Articulating boom lifts and telescopic boom lifts move differently from each other. Instead, they extend outwards and upwards with hydraulics that retract and extend. The operator who is situated in the platform has the controls to operate and extend the lift on their own. Certain larger units feature a jib located at the top that looks similar to an articulating boom lift model. Boom lifts are available that reach higher than one-hundred and eighty feet. These machines are built to be stable and reliable. Some are able to extend to their full height capacity in less than 60 seconds. Adjustable speed, along with varying weight range capacities from 500 to 1000 lbs. are available in dual-fuel and diesel options. Boom lifts can fit through tiny spaces and there are 4WD options on the market. In terms of combining height and reach, telescopic boom lifts are your best bet. Jib The jib is the extension found at the end of the main boom and between the platform. This enables extra reach and another articulation point or hinge for the platform to move side-to-side or up-and-down. Articulating boom lifts and telescoping boom lifts may have jibs. There is an articulation point available on certain models situated halfway between the platform and the wheels to allow the machine to reach over an obstacle and be lowered again if needed. Genie Articulating Boom Lifts The Genie Z-boom model is a common kind of articulating boom lift that can be found on the market. Designed to provide the most versatility in difficult to access spaces, this model has the capacity to lift up, over and out with superior positioning. The first articulating Genie Z-30/20 boom was launched in 1985. These machines became immediately popular with their up-and-over design that continues to make them sought after nowadays. Proper Safety Measures Of course, safety is the highest priority when operating any type of boom lift. All known safety hazards must be known to anyone working within the vicinity. Operating the equipment safely is vital for the operator and everyone in the vicinity. Before starting the boom lift, it is paramount that the proper safety gear and communication is in place. Prior to operating, ensure there are no open flames, combustible or flammable items, lit cigarettes, battery gases or engine fuels present. Have a properly mounted, accessible and visible fire extinguisher mounted within reach. It is important to maintain a clean work space around charging stations and work surfaces since clutter or tools could puncture tires or damage the machine or its components. Daily Maintenance Daily maintenance includes a visual inspection and consulting the maintenance manual to ensure the machine is up to date and will operate safely. Lifting and supportive devices need to stabilize the weight on hand. Chains, fasteners and straps need to be inspected regularly to ensure they are in optimum condition. Single-use fasteners and components must not be reused as they may fail and become extremely dangerous. Discarded solvents and oils must be disposed of safely and in an approved container to prevent environmental contamination. Workbenches and workshop or garage areas need to have adequate lighting and ventilation. Typically the wide umbrella of maintenance is distinguished by subsections such as Commissioning and Programmed Maintenance Intervals, Annual Maintenance, and Quarterly Maintenance. Maintenance Inspection Report The boom lift components are divided and categorized to streamline the process of inspection. Some of the maintenance categories for the boom lift include the Engine, Platform, Controls and Function, Turntable, Booms and Drive Chassis. Not complying with routine maintenance can put the operator at a huge safety risk, lead to damaged components, terrible performance and preventable downtime. The maintenance inspection report is an essential component to keeping the machine operable and the staff safe while extending the service life and overall performance of the machine. A list of single maintenance procedures that need to be conducted at 50-hour and 150-hour intervals is known as commissioning. Annual and Quarterly maintenance procedures need to be performed once or multiple times a year. Programmed maintenance procedures are completed based on machine operating hours or during “pre-delivery” preparation. Consult your maintenance manual prior to operating to ensure all oil changes, battery life and fluid levels are primed for success. Boomlift / Manlift PDF
